Funds and Trusts (Structure & Risks for Banks, AML, Compliance Officers)
Aim:
To provide an understanding regarding the funds and trusts
legislation and structures as well as the related risks and how to
address/mitigate them.
Objective:
To provide the participants with an understanding of:
(a) purpose and scope of applicable legislation;
(b) the purpose fund and trust structures may serve;
(c) the applicable types, forms and regulatory and licensing
requirements relating to funds/trusts incorporation/set-up
and ongoing operation;
(d) the risks involved for Banks, AML/Compliance Officers and
methods to mitigate it;
(e) how fund/trust documents work and familiarize them with
the necessary requirements for their proper review and
respective due diligence.

Lecturer’s Profile:
Antigoni Fakonti is a qualified lawyer and the Head of Legal
of Globe Invest Limited. She is recognized as a
knowledgeable, internationally experienced attorney with a
ten-year experience in the fields of corporate, tax, trusts,
finance/banking, funds, shipping and energy. She is advising
on international wealth management, planning and tax
structuring. She deals with large complex multi-sourced
project financings and securities structures, IPOs, local and
cross-border mergers, takeovers and acquisitions,
incorporation, licensing and running of companies, trusts
and funds (AIFs).
She has an LLB and an LLM in Commercial Law from the
University of Bristol, UK. She has gained additional
professional qualifications in tax, trusts, finance regulations
and mediation. These include the Advanced Diploma in
International Taxation (Chartered Institute of Taxation, UK),
the Financial Services Regulatory Framework: Advanced
(CySEC) certification and the Mediator (CEDR) certification.
She is also a member of several professional associations,
including STEP, ITPA and WISTA, the author of articles and
legal texts and a university lecturer. She has been a speaker
and panelist in several conferences in Cyprus and abroad.
